UFC Bails on Salt Lake City. Let's Overreact and Blame the Mormons
Zuffa has pulled out (pun intended) of Salt Lake City due to poor ticket sales. The Versus card, headlined by Jon Jones, will take place in San Diego instead.
Heavy.com was the first to report the move and mentioned "Mormon influences", which got everyone all riled up thinking that the UFC just got Prop 8'd. But then cooler heads prevailed and realized it was just bad ticket sales, though the fact the card was on a Sunday, probably hurt the drawing power within the Mormon community.
The UFC did offer an official statement after the news broke:
"Our television ratings in Salt Lake City have always been strong," White said. "When we finally found the opportunity to bring a UFC event there with a great card, I was very surprised and disappointed in ticket sales.
"As a result, for the first time in UFC history, I decided to pull the plug and move this August 1st event to the San Diego Sports Arena."
For all the rapid domestic growth and inroads into international expansion there is still tremendous work to be done in North America.

i’ve got a friend we all nicknamed “the mormon” because of how strictly he follows the rules. he’s a big MMA fan, so i was curious how the mormons could be at fault. people always attack what they dont know.
I'm old school hating Lesnar, I've been hating Lesnar since '08
I'm going to start being the BE or KidNate of commenters, I'm just going to copy and paste your comments and say "I agree & Dana White sucks!"
