Akiyama is too sexy for his shirt and Chris Leben (Update)
I am not pleased with the change. There are just ten days left until the contest for me to determine [Chris Leben's] threats and the time is insufficient to establish a tailored gameplan. Leben is also not as high-profile as [Wanderlei] Silva and that does not help me."
"If there is to be a replacement I was hoping for a big name. I spent one year preparing hard for this fight and this news has come as a big disappointment, my motivation has waned. I do not know yet what will happen. .. In the worst case, I will not take part in the [UFC 116] event. We are working hard to resolve this issue."
Sounds like Yoshihiro really doesn't want to fight Leben.
UPDATE:
MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) has learned from sources close to the promotion that despite some initial resistance to facing a new opponent, Japanese judoka Yoshihiro Akiyama (13-1-2 MMA, 1-0 UFC) has indeed agreed to face Chris Leben (20-6 MMA, 10-5 UFC) at next week's UFC 116 event in Las Vegas.

Id say leben is a scarier fight at this point than wanderlei...
at least for akiyama. I don’t see akiyama dropping leben, or threatening him too much with submission. leben should have size and reach on him, and stands a good chance of knocking him out.
That being said, I’d probably take akiyama. but wouldnt be surprised to see leben take it
Akiyama vs Silva was going to be huge in asian countries, and I have a feeling akiyama and silva were going to be specially compensated for their pull in those countries. with akiyama vs leben… sure, their fight is still kindof special over there because their guy hasn’t fought in a year and he’s going up against a mouthy american, but i dont suppose it will have the same pull or compensation he would have gotten had he fought silva.
that being said, i think 6-7 months from now, the UFC could call akiyama vs silva a #1 contender fight (they’ve done crazier), and the fight could be even bigger.
I'm old school hating Lesnar, I've been hating Lesnar since '08
I'm going to start being the BE or KidNate of commenters, I'm just going to copy and paste your comments and say "I agree & Dana White sucks!"
I wasn’t too impressed with his fight at UFC 100. He lost IMO. And I’ve seen his fights in Japan. Good, nothing special. I’m still waiting for Akiyama to blow my doors down.

I didn't know who Akiyama was at the time of UFC 100.
He’s the guy that Alan Belcher hit with the superman punch off the cage.

SEXYAMA!!!! gotta agree with Sexy, it's a dangerous matchup for him. I like leben he goes in to bang
but yeah, he’s not a high profile name and could really put a halt to sexy’s momentom and it really won’t mean anything if he won except for perhaps getting experience fighting someone with a similar style to WANDY. I’ll understand if he doesn’t take the fight tho, but WANDY’s may out for quite a while. So, it may be a long time before he gets to fight.

Hey Sexyama...DO YOU WANNA BE A F**KIN FIGHTER?
You KNOW Dana hates these types of comments.

this pisses me off
Leben needs to go on a public shit talking parade calling out akiyama, and questioning his honor. Hell get the fight if he humiliates akiyama enough
