Did Tito Ortiz deserve to be "fired" from TUF 11
The reveal that everyone some people were waiting to see finally happened on last night's episode of The Ultimate Fighter. Last week, Tito Ortiz withdrew from his fight with Chuck Liddell due to the need for neck surgery and this week Dana White decided to "fire" Ortiz from the show as he wouldn't be able to fight Chuck at UFC 115. What makes this decision appear to be influenced by reality fake drama (do we have our second Danabomb in as many days?) is the fact that there were only six days left in filming. For those that missed that key fact, SIX DAYS!
So was it fair or foul or just an attempt to spice up the show that was surprisingly short on urine and frat jokes?

I think it was just Dana’s way of publicly punishing Tito for doing the show when Tito presumably was already well aware of the seriousness of his injury and that he would have to cancel the fight with Chuck. If you make Dana think you fucked him, he’s going to fuck you back… the timing doesn’t matter, he’ll fuck you regardless.
Toatally agree with you. if people think they can fuck Dana over and he’s not going to come right back at them then they don’t know Dana very well or are an idiot.

6 days is weak
I didn’t watch the show. Who fought/won? or was it all just drama
Even a broken clock is right two times a day.
Tito’s neck injury was not something that occured during the taping, it was pre existing. Plus, he wasn’t forthright with his condition before starting the show.
It’s a “privelage” to be a TUF coach because of all the exposure and hype for the end of season fight. Tito was trying to cash in on the exposure without taking the fight and I get the feeling that was his plan the whole time.
IMO, Chuck and Dana’s displeaure is justified. Consequently, we no longer have to suffer through Chuck vs. Tito 3, a fight that should have never been scheduled in the first place. There was no controversy the first two times around.
Yes but from UFc not as a coach
In last night’s episode he said after the fight with Forrest in Nov he had tingling in his ear and his legs went numb. He knew he had a serious neck/spinal problem in November but still lied to take the job as coach. he said he would never fight with an injury so he knew he wasn’t going to fight Chuck but still took the show. He then forced them to rebrand his whole team with his personal clothing line while knowing he would not fuffil his end of the bargin and fight Chuck.
So he lied to the UFC and Spike, he forced them into a contract where he gets hours of promotion for his personal brand, and intentially ruined a tv series that probably cost a million or more to produce. Any employer has grounds for firing based on that, he’s lucky the UFC or Spike are going to file a lawsuit for breach of contract.
Well I wouldn’t say he ruined a TV series…but I think you’re right about most everything else.

Well I mean from a production point of view for the UFC and Spike. To them TUF is about having drama to sell advertising during commercials and then a big payday from the fight between the coaches.
Spike might have come out ok with people watching the friction with Chuck and then wondering what happened but for the UFC it kind of was. With just two hours of footage to air having Franklin come in kills the buildup. Now people will buy the PPV if they like the matchup, not to see Tito get destroyed for the third time and have Chuck celebrate over his limp body.

Yeah, TUF for the UFC now is about promoting the coaches fight more and more but part of this decision had to do with the television aspect of Ortiz and Liddell clashing. In that sense the show was a success. And again, if Ortiz had the symptoms he claimed (I know, he’s a dubious source from time-to-time) he wasn’t going to be sanctioned anyways.

yeah, just reality bs to get ratings... the ratings are bad, well compared to the kimblo show
which was the worst season ever, fights and all, but still the lowest rating probably was more than most if not all of this season’s ratings. However, glad they got rid of kimblow! They tried to avoid another season where the two coaches didn’t fight at least shortly after the end of the season. I know this won’t happen, but would’ve liked to have seen Hughes vs rich after season 2

Im sick of Tito
A third liddell/ tito fight was definitely unnecessary.. but really… whats it gonna take to shut that loud-mouth up. he does nothing but b@#$h and complain. He always has an excuse for every loss. Talk so much crap and cant back it up.. im glad dana fired his ass. i honestly was sick of hearing him talk. Surgery, surgery, surgery… maybe if he wouldnt allow himself to get his ass beat so much he wouldnt be injured..
