Apparently people like seeing a Rabbi get beat up

Rabbi_medium

(Rabbi cat will scratch you!)

The Miguel Cotto-Yuri Foreman fight on HBO this past weekend drew a 3.9 broadcast rating for HBO. That's approximately 1.9 million viewers making it the highest HBO TV rating of the year.

The fact that the fight was held outside in Yankee Stadium (20,272 were in attendance) probably helped ramp up interest (think of it as when the NHL started the Winter Classic). Not to mention the fact that Yuri Foreman is training to become a rabbi. Combine those two stories and you have a Mel Brooks musical.

Did anyone actually watch that fight?

how many times has a ring been stormed (outside of mayweather judah) and the fight continued? a phantom towel throwing? Foreman pulling a Cote… twice.

They had ads all over the subways letting people know about this. Only two times I’ve seen that for MMA were Faber’s first Versus show and Fedor/Lindland.

Of course Fedor/Lindland had a couple of people asking me who the fat and ugly guy were and what does ‘bodogging’ look like; So it is not guaranteed success.
