Jake Shields is a Free Man (free to sign with the UFC)
(The middle finger means 'thanks for the memories')
Loretta Hunt of Sherdog reports that Strikeforce has released Jake Shields.
Others would describe it as a firing and it was even rumored that Strikeforce tried, and failed, to keep Shields out of the HP Pavillion last Saturday night.
The second Shields appeared in a loving embrace with Dana White in the Arco Arena the gig was up and the irony is it might actually hurt Jake's negotiating power with Zuffa. Now Shields has no choice but to sign with the promotion as Strikeforce has effectively washed their hands of him.

i really don’t get the middle finger for pictures. … i thought it meant “fuck you”.
“here’s me at my first UFC event, here’s me with rampage doing the fist pose, here’s jake shields telling me to go fuck myself, here’s a ring girl shot”
I'm old school hating Lesnar, I've been hating Lesnar since '08
I'm going to start being the BE or KidNate of commenters, I'm just going to copy and paste your comments and say "I agree & Dana White sucks!"
sucks for shields
Playin hardball can be a gamble. maybe its not always good to have your pops be your manager. He will surely get paid less by the UFC now than if they made zuffa think they were in a bidding war

on the bright side
This guarantees us a kick ass middleweight tournament (which coker hinted at having round 1 at one event, then round 2 and round 3 in the same night at a 2nd event like the good ole days)
And if shields gets a win, he will probably fight GSP (if he beats kos) and then we all get to see GSP use his striking!
I’m happy

I think he’ll get a nice payday. Particularly from the Dan Henderson bounty bonus.
