UFC Opens a Chinese Office (Update: Maybe Not)

Per Sherdog:
The UFC announced that its newest international office will open imminently in China. A UFC Chinese-language Web site launched this past weekend, and the company recently hired an executive to run the office. The move comes after the UFC opened offices in Canada and the United Kingdom. Earlier this year, the company announced a deal with Internet portal Sohu.com, popular in Asia, as its key broadcast outlet on the continent.
It seems that China is the prize for the Zuffa's aggressive international expansion efforts, which are a direct reflection of many Western companies chief modus operandi: "do whatever it takes to get into China".
Sort of reminds you of Tai-pain. Well, expcet the whole Opium trade and all that baggage. Woo!!! destroying a civilization with drugs for tea and silk woo!!!
Update: Apparently the UFC China office will open by the end of the year and could be in either Beijing or Shanghai.

Zak, you’re killing me with these references to the current economic gold rush in china, AND a shout out to tai-pan (the movie or book I’m not sure). All this from a site about “ultimate fighting”, who knew?
