Nobody Wants Chuck Liddell to Fight Anymore. Well, Except Chuck Liddell...

Chuck-liddell_medium

The chorus of people trying to tell Chuck Liddell to stop trying to get Parkinson's fighting keeps growing louder. The latest to join in is Tito Ortiz:

"I hope I get the Chuck fight. As a fighter, I would love to kick his ass. As a human being, I don't think he should fight anymore just because health is more important than fights," Ortiz said. "Grudge matches are important to sell, but at the same time he has kids to take care of and I don't want nothin' serious to happen to him. [Getting knocked out] that many times, it gets kinda scary. I was really shocked [by the loss to Rich Franklin fight]."

Dana White is on record saying he would cut Chuck Liddell before he would let him fight in the UFC again. Come to think of it that statement is a little weird. Why would White cut Chuck or even have to cut Liddell if he wanted to fight? It just seems Isiah Thomas back at the Knicks weird...

Anyway, White told MMA Weekly that Chuck is having trouble coping:

"Chuck is having a hard time with this thing," White said. "He told me tonight that watching the show open messed him up. You’ve got to understand this guy has been in this longer than me. He’s been around forever and he loves this sport. All I’m hoping is that he’s going to make the right decision … You know what I mean by the right decision, I hope he’s going to retire."

All Chuck needs to do is start a new hobby. He could start playing chess like those old guys in the park. On second thought Liddell doesn't exactly seem like a master strategist. Or he could try his hand at finger weaving call it "Iceman Baskets". Hell, he could even take up competitve Starcraft to help with the UFC's push into South Korea thought that does require fine motor skills... How about underwater hockey?

That's some collage up there. I'd like to see Jardine's.

I imagine Tito had something custome made for his ensuite bathroom at home.

"I heard a loud crackle sound. He did not tap so I thought 'Ok, this match just became a death-fight' and I was going to destroy his leg."

Get off his nuts people! LET THE MAN FIGHT ALREADY!

I can see why a lot of people don’t want to see him fight, ‘cause some probably see him as a hero and blah, blah, blah. OH PLEASE CHUCK QUIT! However, I never liked the dude and it’ll prove that he’s no match for today’s competition. He’s no longer fighting for the most part one dimentional ground fighters whom he run around an pick apart, but fighters with an overall game. I bet that he wouldn’t have this hype behind him if he would’ve started fighting today as his current record’s showing. He’ll be a nobody or just another can…

i was always a chuck doubter

Id tell my ufc lovin friends that dana was tossin him matches to win, and that wandy would ruin him. And shogun would rape, and that rampage KO’d chuck in japan and they’d go “nuh uuuh! Chuck didn’t get KO’d!”

But in all fairness, its not his fighting ability that has left him useless as afighter. Yes, he isn’t the best 205er like the ufc wanted us to believe in the day. Shogun and rampage both ruined him from start to finish.

Butif you watch the evans fight, chuck won the first round. Same with the franklin bout. He was winning til his chin was touched. He would still be aufc 205er if he came up these days, just not the champ.

I think a lot of ppl want him to retire, not cuz of some lame he’s my hero excuse. Maybe you could pull off that hatin theory a few fights ago. Its really. The mma community knowing that one of the biggest mma stars of the first generation becoming an ali stutterer is bad. For mma’s legacy.

We are mma “nuthuggers” and on behalf of us unabashed mma nuthuggers allow me to say -chuck, quit it.

Chuck Needs to Stop fighting

Yes i agree as a long time Chuck Liddel fan he needs to retire from fighting. But if he loves the business so much why not let him still train and fight the guys and train them in camps with sparing gear on then he can still do what he loves with less risk and train mma fighters. I think if he opens his own mma gym he would have a lot of fighters wanting to train with him and get his advice.

Let Chuck Decide

If Chuck wants to keep fighting … then fuck it, let him fight. Chuck looked awesome in his Rich Franklin fight, until he got too over aggressive and paid the price. He certainly showed that his movement isn’t slowing down with his age, even if his chin is. I think at this age of his life he needs to start fighting with his head and not as much with his fists. His chin is suspectable, so he needs to be more smart and not leave it over exposed when he’s throwing punches.
