Shinya Aoki is kind of a dick

If he looks like a jerk and acts like a jerk and flicks people off like a jerk. He's probably a jerk.

For whatever reason I always thought that Shinya Aoki was not -- how do I phrase this delicately? -- a sociopath who wanted to rip people's limbs off Saw style. Maybe it was the language barrier or maybe I just wanted to romanticize Japanese MMA (silly me) but then Aoki started breaking limbs in Japan and my perspective began to change. Of course you could easily rationalize it away as the victim's fault for not freaking taping like a sane human being. Then again they are fighters so sanity isn't really a commodity in abundance.

Anyway, back to issue at hand. Here's what Aoki said after he defeated Kawajiri at DREAM.15:

"When I grabbed him, I felt that I could finish it At some moments in the fight, it seemed like When I caught him and tried to submit him, I heard. a loud crackle sound. He did not tap so I thought ‘Ok, this match just became a death-fight' and I was going to destroy his leg...I knew Kawajiri never taps so I could not win without breaking his bone. I was hoping for an open-fracture."

Ummm... uhhh... Holy $^&# that's Mel Gibson sick. You don't think that Aoki would be mad that I called him a dick in the title, do you?

You do!

Ah crap! I really liked my bones being in one piece.

i heard what you said

I'm old school hating Lesnar, I've been hating Lesnar since '08

I'm going to start being the BE or KidNate of commenters, I'm just going to copy and paste your comments and say "I agree & Dana White sucks!"

isnt an open fracture better than a compound fracture?

Perhaps this is his caring side. “I hoped to mangle his body in a way that he will be able heal (so that I can do it again)”

aoki just trollin, just like how he makes all those gay comments, he fucks with peoples heads so they may fear him in the ring, scared fighter makes mistakes and aoki’s style is catered to capitalizing on mistakes

I think the sport needs this kind of twisted-psycho element to it. Perhaps it’s better that it’s not happening in the UFC, so that it can continue it’s sanctioning-in-all-50-states-and-world-domination quest, and that it’s only a few fighters (Babalu?).

If it puts a little fear back into the fight game, then is it so bad?

I'm gonna channel Dana real quick...

“This is the fucking fight game!”
I love Aoki’s antics, at least they are interesting. GSP is a great fighter, and I love watching him fight, but his actions outside the cage are plain boring.
Breaking bones got me interested in MMA (Frank Mir VS Tim Silvia was my first MMA match)

It reminds me of all those “college boy” Officers in Iraq, who didn’t want us to wear skull bandanas around our faces cuz it was “too fightening”!?!?!?! WHAT? It’s a fucking WAR!!!!

BTW was anyone else reminded of the Boise State / Oklahoma post game proposal, when Aoki proposed to his future wife?

God help me, I have a problem. I'm a Shinya Aoki fan. I don't know what to do about it...

i prefer aoki to gsp

He’s entertaining. I love the antics. I love mirwanting to kill brock and trying to break peoples bones. I love bj beating the SHIT out of stevenson and licking the blood off his gloves. Ilove babalu holding that choke for an extra few seconds to make sure his opponent goes out to teachhim not to talk shit. Good stuff (disclaimer, I HATE when someone injuries someone when they should stop. Like palhares in his last fight. Or sokoudju against nanjan or whatever fattys name was in japan)

But GSP is what is needed right now. We need guys like GSP and Carwin going the 100% P.C. route in order to get this thingie we call MmA properly sanctioned.

aoki is a known boise state bronco fan.

I'm all about covering the spread and moneylines. Glory favors the bold. Chance favors the prepared mind. Luck, well i have that too. University of Utah goes to the Pac-12 conference in 2011. I expect them to compete immediately for the conference CG. I still will always follow the Mountain West Conference. Brock Lesnar will defeat Cain Velasquez and face the winner of Junior Dos Santos vs Roy Nelson where he will defeat JDS and stake his claim as pound for pound champion. Womens MMA, the next big thing in sports. 50 days and counting to the first game of college football. UTAH vs Pitt. September 2nd 2010.
