No ESPY for Georges St. Pierre and Frankie Edgar

Is it just me or does MMA fighters at the ESPY's remind anyone else of hip hop at the Grammy's back in the 80's. There's a whole lot of "oh, this is new and popular but we aren't really going to pay attention to it."
Granted, Frankie Edgar, who was nominated for "Upset of the Year" didn't have a snowball's chance in hell of winning (Northern Iowa's male basketball team won) but Georges St. Pierre should of had a real chance to defeat Floyd Mayweather Jr. for "Fighter of the Year" in part due to the public's desire to see Mayweather vs. Pacquiao and the growing impression that Floyd is stonewalling the fight.
Then again progress is being made. "Fighter of the Year" used to be "Boxer of the Year" and the fact that Edgar was recognized for his upset is worth a AAA rating. Though it would be nice if one of our guys or gals can win a over hyped, commercially bloated award.

i think it will still take a couple of years before MMA can be compared to many of the mainstream sports.

Mayweather is the fighter of the year?
figures, ESPN is notoriously anti MMA. I was shocked that they allowed MMA live, then I saw it’s time slot. Apparently womens softball from 2002 is a higher draw than an MMA show……riiiiight. ESPN sucks for the MMA fan.
