Of course there isn't a MMA Hall of Fame
Ben Fowlkes wants to know why there isn't a "MMA Hall of Fame"?
Here's the simple answer: Money and geography.
The sport of mixed martial arts is geographically disparate. Fighters and fans are spread out all over the world (Brazil, U.S., Canada, Japan, South Korea, U.K. to name a few) and the market that is currently the strongest -- North America-- is dominated by one promotion that has no need to celebrate the sport over itself. Not to mention North America is pretty f$%^ing huge so where you going to put it? Montreal? Might as well call it the Georges St. Pierre museum then. Vegas? Just call it the UFC Hall of Fame, which already exists in whatever weird metaphysical plane that hall resides in Zuffaland.
Which is brings us to the real answer of why no "MMA Hall of Fame" exists -- money.
There isn't enough commercial money, and by extension fans who spend money, to make a MMA Hall of Fame a serious financial endeavor. There aren't even any uber wealthy patrons who could subsidize it as a loss for "the good of the sport" and it's not like the UFC and the financial resources attached to those three letters are going to jump on board with lionizing fighters who never fought under the UFC flag.
On the other hand, if the goal is to get something similar to the Pez Museum then we are good to go.
