Wow, NBC is Really Desperate for Programming

Case in point this horrendous trailer for a female MMA reality show.

While WKR really, really, REALLY wants to be a cheerleader for women's MMA this trailer is just so god awful that we can't.

It is not even the good god awful like Jersey Shore or Sharktopus. Just in the "I can't believe this piece of poorly made programming is going to end up on NBC" way.

Actually it totally makes sense that this would end up on NBC. In fact, it sort of gives me hope that I can one day make television programming in the same way that Mike Brown of the Bengals makes me feel like I could be a better NFL GM.

At the very least NBC could have followed Oxygen's (that channel your mom watches) lead and make a show where Gina Carano gets her farted on.

Update: Apparently this show isn't actually scheduled for the fall the season, which is cool because we still got to yell at NBC for something. Did you know that Jay Leno's ratings are worse than Conan's? Smart move peacock. Emphasis on the rooster.

The trailer didn’t look that bad. It doesn’t sound like the best idea though – after all, men’s mma is still at risk of not being accepted by some mainstream USA, let alone women’s mma. It’s not my double-standard, but you know it’s out there.

I’m not sure about this. More female MMA could also have a “look, the girls do it, it’s not that barbaric after all” effect on the non-fans.

Well, anybody who knows me knows I'm no fan of dictionaries or reference books. They're elitist. Constantly telling us what is or isn't true. Or what did or didn't happen.

I’m inclined to agree with scoozna. Boxing is not nearly as aesthetically unpleasing as MMA for most folks but women’s boxing has not caught on for exactly the same reasoning, despite bigger names (Laila Ali, Ann Wolfe) and pretty faces (Mia St. John).

Now with aggro font from 1998!

Girls punching bags! Metal things slamming down and obscuring them! We won’t even show you their faces so you can form a temporary bond with them as humans while making their names register! Some white guy! Brain-dead bimbo we will show you!

Coming soon.

Ugh, that looks lame. But on the other hand…

…Jay > Conan! If for, no other reason, than the constant presence of the one and only Jim Norton!
