UFC 116 and Brock Lesnar vs. Shane Carwin Hangover
Some thoughts while I recover from my UFC 116 hangover...
- Brock Lesnar won after getting his ass kicked for five minutes. Who knew Brock would be a Heavyweight Jiu-Jitsu master. That's not over-the-top hyperbole...
- There is a difference between weight and promotion and skill and experience. Certainly Lesnar vs. Carwin was exciting and the "biggest" (note: it should have been called "largest") fight but it was definitely not at the top of the technique totem poll and that's okay.
- For about three and a half minutes I looked like a genius then the referee decided not to stop the fight.
- I take it this means Team Carwin loses to Team Edward. Damn you Stephanie Myers and your shitty writing!
- How many MMA fans were pissed at the WWE contingent. If you thought the Pride vs. UFC days of 2005 were bad wait till you see the threads UFC vs. WWE of 2010.
- And I just took out a second mortgage and put in on Cain Velasquez to beat Lesnar.
- Someone buy Shane Carwin and Yoshihiro Akiyama a treadmill.
- Who knew that Chris Leben would become semi-relevant again at 185lbs.
- Sotiropopants strike again!
Sorry for the short version but family obligations call.

Rec'd because you did.
To be fair though, no one saw the fight ending like it did.

hell no i didnt see that one coming
I mean… at the end. When it was clear he was stayin down, and there was a. Minute or two I’m like “akiyama is tired maybe one of those many armbar attempts will work!” But that was more wishful “save my $5 bet” thinking.
Oh super impressed akiyama took and kept the crippler down so well. Did NOT see that happening

Half the fighters on that card need treadmills!!!
Not just carwin and akiyama, but Dave branch gassed bad, bonnar and kristof, Leben wasn’t exactly fresh going in to the third round but the guy did fight just two weeks ago. It is unfortunate that something as important cardio might be getting overlooked by some very talented fighters. It seems to be costing them the chance to reach their full potential. Maybe less time in tattoo parlors and tanning beds, and more road work.

that was cool
But I was sneezing when it happened :-( fuckin mma I sneeze for 3 seconds and someone is in fetal position getting pounded out!
Did anyone catch the burn joe rogan threw out when bonnar was walking in? Goldie goes “always an exciting fight when stephan bonnar walks into the octagon” and rogan “yah. Well… why else would he still be in the ufc?”
Hahaha burn
