PrintIn a preview of an interview that will air in full Friday on HDNet's "Inside MMA", former UFC Middleweight title number-one contender Chael Sonnen tells Mike Straka that the loss was "hard for him" and "he wants to cry right now". Sonnen states that while most fighters spend weeks training in a "training camp", he has spent 26 years training for this one chance.
Having not seen the interview in full, I must say that the normally bombastic and abrasive Sonnen comes off as a sympathetic guy who's lifelong dream has been crushed. Dare I say Sonnen is (Luke Thomas avert thine eyes) "turning face". If there's anyone who could pull it off, it's Chael. He's already endeared himself at some of America with his xenophobic comments and now his "American Dream crushed" story appeals to a lot more. The inevitable Silva/Sonnen rematch will be that much bigger.
Check your local listings for airtime and if you don't get HDNet, call somebody and complain.

For 20+ minutes of dominance his face looks like he was on the bad end of a beating.

I agree, he “sold” this fight better than Anderson Silva ever could. But in the process he willingly played the shit-talking heel, and in my book made himself rather unlikeable, and now he wants sympathy? Suck it up, big mouth.
