A Mobile, Alabama court handed out a 4 year prison sentence to J. Michael Bennett, supervising pharmacist at Applied Pharmacy Services, for participating in a national conspiracy to illegally sell anabolic steroids.

Prosecutors referred to Bennett, 44, and the others in a sentencing memorandum as a "drug dealers in lab coats." They contended that Bennett played a key role in an enterprise involving rogue doctors and health clinics across the country who used the compounding pharmacy to supply healthy adults with dangerous steroids.
Some of those substances were veterinary drugs approved only for use in livestock.
"These are steroids for horses and cows, not for young people and humans," Assistant U.S. Attorney Donna Dobbins said.
According to court records, Applied Pharmacy Services shipped 762,388 dosages to 17 doctors and clinics from April 4, 2004, until Aug. 30, 2006. The U.S. Attorney's Office in Mobile contends that does not include many other doctors and clinics that they say participated in the conspiracy.
Those performance-enhancing drugs ended up in the hands of users ranging from professional athletes to teenagers looking to build body mass. Prosecutors cited 22 professional athletes who obtained steroids from Applied Pharmacy Services during the time Bennett worked there.(emphasis mine)
Among those listed as receiving steroids from Bennett was a familiar name to fans of MMA.
Shane Carwin, a former NCAA Division II wrestling champion who went on to become an Ultimate Fighting heavyweight champion.
Now, let's not jump the gun and call Shane Carwin a "roider".just because his name came out in court as evidence for allegedly receiving shipments of steroids along with 2 professional wrestlers (a business notorious for steroids) and 4 bodybuilders (another business notorious for steroids). Mr. Carwin is innocent until proven guilty and I'm sure he will be addressing this via Twitter, his website, or select media outlets. All we have is the word of a man under oath and penalty of a court of law and receipts of orders containing steroids addressed to Mr. Carwin.that were directly signed by the convicted Bennett.
I'm sure more details will follow as they are released.

Bah, I can’t come up with anything else. I can’t wrap my brain around it. It’s too bad about all this steroid inquisition crap, all it does is tarnish the image of the fighters and their position in the sport. It’s just bad for MMA at this point.

The orders were from early to mid 2006
so it doesnt necessarily mean anything in regards to his UFC career.
Its a timespan that encompasses his 2nd,3rd,4th, and 5th fights. Two years before his first fight. The order included Testosterone, Trenbolone, Stanozolol and Nandrolone.

It does however...
solidify in my mind that blood testing should be required. The dude ordered multiple banned substances, probably took them, and got away with it for at least 4 fights. These fights were one month, 2 months, and half a month apart- he didnt cycle for sure. He just knew how to mask or get stuff that doesnt show on a piss test.

He looked much smaller than in his highlight reel. Maybe he did and he’s not using anymore? Of course, it could’ve been the fewer lights smaller promotions use, which tend to bring out more definition and volume.

carwin rules
i feel bad for anyone getting caught… most have moved on to human growth hormone.. but either way, there is no such thing as a drug free pro athlete.. and as far as the testing goes.. athletes are always one step ahead of that… carwin is one of the best fighters in the world and shouldnt be penalized for doing the same thing everyone else is doing.
i don't think anything has been proven at this point about carwin but i agree many athletes are dirty in all kinds of sports.

How do they get so big?
I can not believe these fighters get so big without steroids. There is so much muscle mass on some of these athletes it is scary. It is tough that we all seem to figure they are guilty because someone else says they are.
Too bad there wasn’t a way to tell for sure if someone is using or not. The tests do not seem to be able to tell.
