Chael Sonnen: Shane Carwin gave himself lactic acidosis

UFC Middleweight fighter Chael Sonnen, never one to hold his tongue on any issue, recently spoke out to MMA Fight Club Mag about the recent news that fellow UFC fighter Shane Carwin's recent alleged ties to a federal steroid ring.

"When you screw up, you have to own it, That stuff really gets under my skin. Take Shane Carwin. Shane Cawrin did a number of things and he gave himself lactic acidosis. He cheated, he did drugs, and he gave himself lactic acidosis. Well, instead of saying 'Hey listen, I cheated and gave myself lactic acidosis, don't be like me.' He actually made himself the victim and then went out and made threads from this 'Hey, poor me, let's find a cure for lactic acidosis campaign instead of just coming clean and saying, 'Look, here's what I did, I screwed myself up, and I hope people learn from my mistakes.' You just watch these guys and can't help but think, God, what a fraud.."

Sonnen has some harsh words for the former interim champion. Sonnen was answering a question about the type of people who bother him, and he seemed to be suggesting that Carwin is the same kind of phony that Sonnen says Silva, the UFC middleweight champion, is. For good measure, Sonnen threw in that he thinks Joe Rogan is a "pothead" as well, and Sonnen generally seems to think that he deserves to be considered America's one authentic sports star.

Carwin, of course, has always denied that he ever used performance-enhancing drugs, and Sonnen has no evidence for his theory that using PEDs caused Carwin to get lactic acidosis. It's interesting that in addition to being a wannabe politician, a realtor, a cagefighter, a trash talker and a wrestler, Sonnen has somehow found the time to become an oncologist. Clearly, he's taken the time to learn the intricacies of lactic acidosis and its causes. Sonnen must have taken the time to learn these things before stating something so reckless. 

Wait, he's not a doctor? And he has no business speaking about such things? So this ridiculous statement, like many of the other things Sonnen says, should be treated with a shrug.
