Fedor Emelianenko Offered December 4th Bout with Antonio "Big Foot" Silva
MMAJunkie informs us of the murmurings:
Fedor Emelianenko (31-2 MMA, 1-1 SF) will in the coming week decide what his immediate future holds in Strikeforce, according to a source close to the fighter.
While speculation on Emelianenko's next opponent has centered around current heavyweight champion Alistair Overeem or a rematch with Fabricio Werdum, the source said a contest with Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva (14-2 MMA, 1-1 SF) on Dec. 4 is currently on the table for the Russian's final fight on his current Strikeforce contract.
It's not exactly what many were asking for, but Big Foot is actually a good match up for Fedor at this point. It takes Fedor off of the pedestal, and gives him a fight against a competitive opponent who will not roll over. My first choice would have been to seek out a fight with Josh Barnett, but it seems fate wouldn't have those two meet last year, and now this year. This could also give Fedor a win to close out his Strikeforce contract, and make other promotions willing to cough up at least a little more money. Another loss could be devastating though, especially if the loss isn't coming from a top heavyweight.
I don't think that'll be an issue though...I can hear "The Eye of the Tiger" playing all the way in Russia as we speak.

I'm all about covering the spread and moneylines. Glory favors the bold. Chance favors the prepared mind. Luck, well i have that too. University of Utah goes to the Pac-12 conference in 2011. I expect them to compete immediately for the conference CG. Brock Lesnar will defeat Cain Velasquez. Womens MMA, the next big thing in sports. 2 weeks till the first game of college football. UTAH vs Pitt. September 2nd 2010.

But why in the fuck do they have to wait until December?
Why not that October show or something? It’s taking way too long between Fedor’s fights, the man is getting old fast.. I’m guessing it’s M-1 goons’ fault as usual.

The funniest part is that this is actually a quick turnaround in comparison to the last couple of years.

Worthy of note:
Loretta Hunt is saying she’s not hearing the same info. Some will criticize on posting info that isn’t 100%, but I figure, keeping up with rumors and “could be”‘s is half of the fun. I’m sure more info will come about soon enough.

I've always appreciated sites that will bring up rumors.
Label it appropriately if you’re uncertain about validity, but I’ve always liked seeing the information as it streams.

yah as long as u say its a rumor its good to hear

I’ll be praying for a Bigfoot victory that ends with Silva signing a UFC contract on Dana White’s back in the middle of the cage.

Damn you, subo.
You took the words right from my fingertips. The only part I can add is that Dana should re-acquire Werdum as soon as it is feasible to do so. Firstly, the UFC needs more legit BJJ guys in HW after Mir’s been smashed to pieces. Secondly, to complete the MMAth for supremacy over Fedor.
Not saying it’s a legitimate supremacy argument, but it would be pretty funny to see them spin it.

Mir got smashed to pieces
but he’s still around, a dominating win over Cro Cop gets him back in the mix.

Mir is a legit fringe/weak contender in today's HW division.
If Werdum were back in there, it would make the division more balanced looking, anyways.
If I was a hungry man with a gun in my hand and some promises to keep...
I can see Werdum/Mir being very competitive.

Absolutely.
Werdum is probably a better pure BJJ player, while Mir is a bit more well-rounded wiith his striking and wrestling.
I like the second tier depth in the HW division these days.
If I was a hungry man with a gun in my hand and some promises to keep...
Mir/Werdum can definitely make a run at the UFC belt

Why does my profile show there being a reply to this

im almost certain dana goes after werdum much like he did sheilds... i wish he would get overeem but he wouldnt let him fight k-1 or dream at the same time...

call me crazy but i kinda like big foots chances in this one, he really impressed me with his win over arlovski and his cranium wins the size battle automatically!
i'll take bigfoot with some crazy odds but they will be closer considering fedors last fight.

I could see Overeem making concessions
FEG has been pissin him off as of late. and he even offered to not fight K1 for Strikeforce if he got the fights. UFc would definitely get him the fights.
