Mirko Cro Cop Injured, but Cleared to Fight Frank Mir at UFC 119

After a rumor turned up that Cro Cop had sustained an eye injury earlier this week, it was thoroughly denied, but, today MMAJunkie.com confirmed the injury with UFC president Dana White:

"His last day of sparring – the last 10 minutes of the last day of sparring – he got poked in the eye," said White, who was in Rosemead, Calif., for the latest UFC Gym opening. "But he's seen an opthamologist; he's seen everybody."

So, Cro Cop has seen everybody, well, at least with one eye. ~~Without a doubt, we're a few days away from hearing Frank Mir complain yet again about fighter's making excuses before, or after a fight.~~ Scratch that, he's way ahead of me on this one:

It's getting hard not to blame Mir for the complaints though, it seems like this is a constant issue with him, and there's nothing better than defeating a fighter just to hear the next day that you didn't do it while they were in peak physical condition. As fond as I am of Mirko, I have to say his grim chances aren't looking any higher after this bit of news, but if he loses, it's not going to be because of a poked eye in training.

I hate to be like this but Crocop has been making excuses since the fight was announced

This is another in a long line of them. Mir has had his biggest win basically invalidated because of “excuses”.

Don’t feel bad, it’s the truth. The worst part is…it’s a short notice fight, no one is going to think less of him for losing to Frank Mir on short notice, there’s really no need for the excuses to be public. It’s a shame.

And you’re right, he was the first man to KO Big Nog and thats not what anyone remembers that fight for. I’d be pissed if I was Mir as well, and this is coming from a guy who doesn’t like Frank Mir.

I'm thinking of doing a post

on whether or not they should even let Cro Cop fight now. Coupled with all the excuses he has been making this just reeks of, “Well, we’re too close to NOT do the fight so fuck it, let him fight with the bad eye and all his built in excuses. That way if Mir wins, we can act like it’s a good win for him and promote him that way but still promote Mirko by using all this as an excuse. If Mirko wins then Mir is fucked but it makes a good story for Cro Cop.”

The whole thing stinks. I hate it that they are going to go through with it just because of how close we are to the event. I understand it, but I hate it.

I'm a Mir fan.

And I agree with everything he said in that interview.
People hate on Frank alot, but you must be high if you think CC will win this fight.
Anything can happen, but I just don’t see Frank losing this one.

It would take a combination of bad things to cause Mir to lose this fight. I’m talking like, he came in out of shape, he gets poked in the eye, then he gets headkicked. Other than that, I really don’t see Mirko winning, I’ll lose my mind if Cro Cop wins this one.
