Nate Feeling "Great" as he Steps In For an Injured Vitor Belfort against Yushin Okami at UFC 122
Yesterday I wrote about the fallout of the Chael Sonnen failed test and my colleague Dub-K wrote about Nate Marquardt needing to get vocal to try and talk up a title shot, well as fate would have it, there's no need to talk. Thanks to the man that last defeated him failing a drug test and relinquishing his Number 1 Contender status, Nate Marquardt is one win away from the rematch he's been clamoring for with Anderson Silva. According to MMA Weekly, the oft-injured Vitor Belfort is OUT of UFC 122 in Germany and Marquardt is IN.
Belfort's injury is unknown at this time. There is no word on whether the "Number One Contendership Stipulation has been changed.

conspiracy theory anyone?
come on, we all know vitor is not injured, he is just replacing Chael to fight Anderson Silva. Vitor is going to come out saying that he has an injury but he will be back in a couple of months, just in time to fight Anderson. No one is that frail, Vitor is worse than Betty White if this injury is for real. Fuck it, I hope Yushin beats Nate though i doubt it.

Interesting theory. Vitor needed the Okami fight to establish himself as a legit contender… or really, a fight against ANY upper-level 185er. But with Sonnen out until he at least explains himself, the question becomes how long should Silva wait for his next defense? If they wait for the winner of Okami vs Belfort in November, that likely means the spring of 2011. But if they instead reassign Belfort for a title fight, that gives UFC 125 — scheduled for sometime around New Years — a high-profile main event.
So yeah, the conspiracy theory does hold water.
Fate indeed, sucks that the whole premise of my article yesterday is blown out of the water, but I’m still pleased with the matchmaking. Okami vs. Marquardt is going to be a freaking great fight too.

This is a better fight than Vitor anyway.
Nate has a more well rounded game then Belfort.
I’m leaning Okami, but Nate is strong.
I’m happy with this.

I wanted to bag on you for the title of this article but you get bagged on enough as it is. No need to pile on. Should be a good fight.
Forget it Donny, you're out of your element.

I am surprised so many people are excited about an Okami fight.I love the guys fighting style, but I remember when a Okami fight was on a main card people didn’t tend to be that excited. Kinda had a boring reputation. But now people have been a little bit more amped up lately, and that’s a good thing. A 9-2 octagon record deserves a title shot.

Well I wasn’t that excited about a Vitor/Okami fight, mostly because Vitor can be hot or cold but I am very excited for a Nate/Vitor fight because Nate always brings it.

True, but thing about Okami is he has a problem of not bringing it when it matters most. He sat back fro two rounds and let Franklin outpoint him, and he just seemed frustrated with Chael from the get go. Not that it wont be an exciting fight IMO, just I hope Okami can overcome his performance anxiety or whatever you’d call it.

Have you learned nothing.
The “horrible cards” usually turn out great.
It’s the Rampage/Rashad supercards that fall flat.

Guy Pierce's imaginary villain takes exception to your picks.
I think you misread your tattoos in the mirror this morning. It should’ve read:
* Nate Marquardt vs. Yushin Okami8 = Nate, via breaking more sweat warming up for Phalares than actually fighting him
* Krzysztof Soszynski vs. Goran Reljic9 = Krzysztof via KO due to superior number of Zs
* Jorge Rivera vs. Alessio Sakara10 = Sakara
* Amir Sadollah vs. Peter Sobotta11 = Amir
* Jason Brilz vs. Vladimir Matyushenko12 = Janitor
* Rob Kimmons vs. Kyle Noke13 = KO Kyle
* Seth Petruzelli vs. Karlos Vemola14 = Silverback smash in 1st round…anything longer and he’s dead.
* Dennis Siver vs. Andre Winner15 = Siver via spinning back kick to the throat
* Nick Osipczak vs. Duane Ludwig16 = Osipczak via split desicion
* Kris McCray vs. Carlos Eduardo Rocha17 = Savage via superior Duetsche Spreking
* Pascal Krauss vs. Kenny Robertson18 = Krauss via home town judging
