NY Assemblyman Bob Reilly blames MMA and UFC for fight at US Open

Known rival of MMA Bob Reilly of NY State has once again struck out against the sport of mixed martial arts. As you may know, he recently appeared on "Inside MMA" to discuss his opposition to the sanctioning of MMA in NY State. Well, if that wasn't enough, Mr. Reilly recently blamed an altercation between two people that turned into a mini-brawl on the influence of MMA.

Reilly states:
MMA is really is a glorification of brutality and violence and it makes people immune to violence and in fact promotes violence. It has gone so far as to influence other non-violent sports like tennis. I was recently sent a video in which a young man aggressively accosted an older couple, going so far as to throw the man over the seats and down several rows. The older gentleman slapped the young man who, after feeling his power, clearly didn't want to stand and took him down with a double leg he probably saw on in a UFC fight.
Reilly ended his comments by saying:
It's bad enough MMA is seeping into other sports. We can't just disallow sanctioning, we have to ban its influence totally. Could you imagine something like this at a soccer match? I can't either, but with MMA around, it's possible. We have to be pro-active when it comes to the influence of MMA.

how dumb are you reilly? first of all the young man was slapped by that b*tch and then when everything was over the old man slapped his drink and grabbed his head. where the hell did u see a double leg takedown u f*ckin clown? why dont u keep your mouth shut and look into the sport more before you blame a fight at a sporting event on mma. fights happen at almost every orginized sporting event and the cause is ALCHOHOL not MMA you moron. is boxing not the same as mma? how bought you worry about the lack of money the greatest city in the world has and the fact that terrorists want to build a mosque on ground zero and not about f*ckin sports you a** h*le.

first vid was by far the best, they seem like cool people
the second one they seem like sticklers/snitches who’ll rat you out in class for talking.
However, I don’t know if I would’ve let that slap pass tho, I probably would’ve knock that bitch out. Not intentionally, but by instict cause as soon as I feel something hit my face it’s an innate response that my fist goes in for the face bashing undiscriminately.
Also, that’s why I hate old people, they have this sense of entitlement and that arena too, for the most part nothing but snotty as people!
Lastly, as I stated on my first post What’s MMA? Who’s Kalib? post a while ago, I don’t see it passing in NY.

How about the fact that something like 6 of the top ten sports disasters (by death) are soccer riots? How about the time, the columbian player was shot for scoring on his own goal during the world cup?
Compared to soccer, MMA is downright civil.

You are not wrong about the sense of entitlement older people seem to boster. Assholes are assholes, it doesn’t matter how old, or what gender they are. I’ve seen tons of situations like this where older people instigate altercations with younger people and ten times out of ten it ends this way, everyone thinking the young person is a bastard when the older ones were the douchebags that started the whole thing.
