Ref Yves Lavigne "I did not give him an interview on or off record"
As you probably know, there has been a developing story over the weekend about an interview MMA ref Yves Lavigne "gave" to Montreal writer Vincent Morin. In that interview, Yves was said to have called Koscheck "boring" and scared to stand against Daley and stated that GSP would dominate and beat him in their upcoming fight. The validity of that interview was called into question by Lavigne a couple of days later as he denied speaking with that reporter. Yves Lavigne appeared on Ariel Helwani's "MMA Hour" to further clarify his position to leave no doubts.
"I did not give him an interview on or off record," Lavigne said. "Those are not my quotes. This is not me. Is that enough?" Lavigne goes on to state that never spoke with the writer Vincent Morin and doesn't know where the comments came from.
You can read a recap of the MMA Hour interview by Ben Fowlkes at MMA Fighting. You can also hear the audio (once uploaded) on iTunes.
As I said on Friday, I offer my sincerest apologies that I reported on a story that contained an interview that Yves says didn't happen and the controversy that grew from it.

Sucks that the interview didn't take place for two reasons
1) That it harmed Yves’ rep
and 2) because the radio interview where he said pretty much the same things will now go largely ignored by the media even though it’s his voice.

Good on you for apologizing. I pass on shit all of the time for fear of being trolled.

Well, I said if he said I didn't say those words, I would apologize publically
and I’m a man of my word.
I just wish someone would ask him about the radio interview but I’m sure that will go unasked. At least Josh knows.
Oh and since I really can’t say it over there, f- a couple of the people at BE for the way they slagged on me and others at WKR and then expect me not to respond.

Get used to people projecting upon you
I’ve been there for a while – there is nothing you can do and you getting pissed is their goal. Don’t let that happen.

It's called "if you ain't cheating, you ain't trying"
Wait, why am I using Tito Ortiz as a role model on anything? perturbed at this strange new development
He doesn’t “pretty much say the same things.”
The article claimed Yves said GSP would “manger tout rond” Koscheck. That basically means DESTROY Koscheck.
That’s not what Yves said in the radio interview. He said Koscheck was a wrestler, GSP was well rounded & spoke about GSP’s humility as a fighter.
The “boring fight” thing he said about Koscheck vs Daley was said in jest in response to a previous segment on the CKAC radio station where 3 hosts were “debating” whether MMA should be banned or not. I use quotes because they obviously know nothing about MMA and even say at one point that “people who love MMA love war”. I’m not even joking.
Transcription & translation of the full segment will be on my blog shortly.

This is what he said at the end
Basically he says if we care to analyze the tools that Koscheck will bring against Georges, we don’t have the same kind of experience, not at all. Koscheck is an Olympic level wrestler who has won tons of medals in Wrestling: he also was NCAA champion, good for him, wrestling is big in the USA and he’s good at it. He was also taught how to box, how to utilize his hands and feet, it’s a new talent for him. However, the talent is not on the same scale as Georges’ talent: George, in his first meeting with Koscheck, was able to dominate him in his strongest asset: Wrestling. He beat him at his own game. Today, who has evolved the most? I say it’s Georges St-Pierre because Georges has the humility to go all around the world to get himself matched up against opponents that are better than him in each facet of fighting.
And yes, it wasn’t the exact same thing as stated in the print interview, but they are similar. But I think you’re going to have your view no matter.
